SEO is the practice of promoting a web site by increasing its position in search results on the major search engines. Those search engines comprise of Google mainly but also include Yahoo!, Bing, and a few others.

The solution would be to learn how to optimize your page content for search engine visibility, based on less competitive keywords.

The more links you have, the more search engines will be favorable toward your website. However, the amount of links going to your site is not the only factor that counts; there is also the link's quality to keep in mind.

This is a technique that most people don't even realize is in existence. When you name an image that you have included within your blog post, ensure that you using the keyword phrase that you're trying to place for in the search engines.

If your SEO campaign focuses on phrases that receive few search queries, your site may rank well, yet fail to generate any traffic.

The process of backlinking, or gaining links from other websites to your site (a very important step in the SEO process and crucial to gaining high SERP rankings) is ongoing and without end.

Reciprocal linking does not carry the weight that it used to, neither do links from social bookmarking sites. That's not to say they won't help, but they don't mean what they used to.

Some, like Google, will pay more attention to the quality of links, while others, such as Yahoo, prefer quantity. Whatever rules are in place, they all have one thing in common.

You don't have to. You can learn a lot about SEO and do things on your own that increase your search engine indexings which will, by nature, increase the incoming traffic your site gets.

If you are an online dog toy company, for example, people regularly search for the term "dog toys" according to Google's tool roughly 301,000 times a month, while a focus on "buy dog toys" gets roughly 590 searches a month.

So, if your website is about, let's say, photography, you'd better make sure that there is plenty of textual content within your site related to photography (despite the subject matter, photos don't count).

Search engines provide results for users based upon complex calculations or algorithms that are designed to apply information retrieval (or IR) processes to their immense databases of websites to determine which websites best match the user's search criteria and display the results in descending order.

That means it's a good possibility but most keyword tools also show you how many of your competitors are also using that keyword for their optimization.

Obviously if there is a high percentage of competition it will make it more difficult to get a high result in the search engines.

Doing this is an absolute waste of a link. If you are selling cars link back using text like "used cars sale" or "car finance", this will give your site relevance and keyword authority and is the most important aspect of Google SEO.
